Focus on the experience with an elevated ceremony and dinner for a small guest count
K&A chose The Agave House in Malibu as the backdrop for their intimate wedding, with only family and closest friends present for their vows and dinner party. Choosing a luxurious experience becomes quite affordable on a smaller scale. A beautiful Airbnb in the Malibu mountains served as the weekend getaway and ceremony site with a stunning view. Using the place settings provided by the owners of Agave House, they created a stunning tablescape without needing to contract a rental vendor. As the florist for the small wedding, we kept the main focus on the ceremony backdrop. It was a low and lush meadow teeming with local spring blooms, agave succulents (because how could we not match the house’s namesake), and California native poppies. The couple skipped the wedding party, which meant no maids’ bouquets or boutonnieres were needed. Finally, the tablescape called for just a few Ikebana-style arrangements, matching the florals in the ceremony installation. We also provided vintage candle holders to complete the look.

How to plan your micro wedding:
- Stick to a small guest count, under 50 people
- Focus on the things that matter, quality over quantity
- Opt for venues like private estates or restaraunts
- Skip the wedding party, this will save money on florals
- Don’t skip a wedding coordinator, this is going to save you so much stress. If you hire a full service planner they can also help you save money by recommending vetted vendors and reading the fine print of your contracts.
- Choose a few key larger floral installations rather than many small bud vases. A large wow factor will be so much more memorable.
- Find a A La Carte option for florals. These predesigned collections help you stay in budget. Shop ours here.
